Selection method

Large cutters(16-19mm) are more aggressive than small cutters(8-13mm). However, they may increase torque fluctuations. For production, small cutters are easy to make excellent quality, but large cutters may not, there are many factors to influence the quality.

Smaller cutters (8mm, 10mm, 13mm) are very sharp, have been shown to drill at higher ROP than large cutters in certain applications. One exampled application is limestone. Also, bit design employing smaller cutters have a higher cutter density to enable them to withstand higher impact loading.

Additionally, small cutters produce smaller cuttings while large cutters produce larger cuttings. Large cuttings may cause problems with hole cleaning if the drilling fluid cannot carry the cuttings up the annulus.

Generally speaking, we have consistant quality no matter for small cutters or large cutters, especially for large cutters, our 16mm can be competed with E6 quality, and 19mm cutters can be compared with USS quality.
